While agriculture continues to be the backbone of the State in terms of economic activity, the State's vibrant services sector is the highest contributor to the NSDP accounting for 42.89% of Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) at constant prices in 2006-07. While mining and manufacturing sectors have witnessed considerable growth, construction activity has seen a major spurt. At constant prices, construction sector registered a growth of over 75%, from Rs.8,377 crore in 2002-03 to Rs.14,688 crore in 2006-07.
